Ultimate Defensive Driving has been training teen and adult drivers across Greater Pittsburgh since 2006. Founded by Jim Clair, a 20-year UPS driver safety veteran, we offer private and commercial instruction built around real-world driving situations.
At Ultimate Defensive Driving LLC, we understand that schedules change and unexpected things happen. This policy exists to be fair to our clients while also respecting the time our instructors set aside for every scheduled session. Please read it carefully before booking any service with us.
Private and Individual Driving Instruction
We ask that clients provide at least 48 hours notice if they need to cancel or reschedule a private driving session. Cancellations made with at least 48 hours notice will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule at no additional charge.
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice will be subject to a cancellation fee. The fee will be deducted from any refund issued. The remaining balance will be returned to the original payment method within a reasonable timeframe.
No-shows, meaning clients who do not appear for a scheduled session without any prior notice, will not be eligible for a refund. The full session fee will be forfeited.
Commercial Fleet Training
Commercial fleet training sessions involve significant advance preparation, instructor scheduling, and in many cases travel to your facility or job site. Because of that, we require a minimum of 72 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a commercial training engagement without penalty.
Cancellations made with less than 72 hours notice will be subject to a cancellation fee to cover preparation costs and lost instructor time. The remaining balance, if any, will be refunded to the client.
For multi-day or multi-session fleet training programs, cancellation terms will be outlined in your service agreement at the time of booking. Those terms take precedence over this general policy where they differ.
Online Course
Access to our online course at ultimate.courseinstruction.com is granted upon enrollment and payment. Because course access is provided immediately upon purchase, refunds for online course enrollment are handled on a case-by-case basis.
If you have not accessed any course content, please contact us within 48 hours of purchase to request a refund. Requests made after course content has been accessed, or after 48 hours from the date of purchase, may not be eligible for a refund. We encourage you to reach out to us directly if you have any concerns about your enrollment.
Rescheduling
We are happy to help you reschedule a session whenever possible. Rescheduling requests made within the required notice window will not incur any additional fees. We ask that rescheduled sessions be booked within 30 days of the original appointment date. Sessions not rescheduled within that window may be treated as a cancellation under the terms above.
Cancellations by Ultimate Defensive Driving
Occasionally we may need to cancel or reschedule a session due to instructor availability, weather conditions, or circumstances beyond our control. In those cases, clients will be notified as early as possible and will be offered either a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule at no cost. We do not charge any fees when a cancellation originates on our end.

To cancel or reschedule any session or training program, please contact us directly as soon as you know you need to make a change. The sooner you reach out, the more options we have available to you.
Please do not send cancellation requests through social media or contact forms, as those channels may not be monitored in time to process your request within the required notice window. Phone and email are the fastest and most reliable ways to reach us.
